There are a few instructions we will need you to follow:

• No food 4 hours prior to the study. You may drink water but no other type of liquid is allowed.
• Please take any medications prior to arrival and bring pain medications to the center to take if needed.
• Wear warm, loose-fitting clothing (scrubs are available). It will not be necessary to remove any clothing for the scan.
• If you are an insulin dependent patient, please call us at Oakland: (510) 663-1952 and Walnut Creek (925) 937-2355.
• No exercise 24 hours prior to exam.
• Please bring a CD or tape of your choice.
  

In order to minimize uptake in the muscles, we will provide you with a mild muscle relaxant. You must bring someone who can drive you from the center. However, if no one accompanies you, the test can still be performed without the muscle relaxant. Please plan to stay with us for approximately two hours.
